Priority will be given to students with exceptional need which is determined by the FAFSA.
For eligible students funding will be automatically awarded and appear on student bursar accounts as “Federal Emergency Relief Grant”. Awards will range from $100 to $1,100. Students may use funds for any component of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care, dating back to the declaration of a national emergency.
Additional CRRSA Act funding will also be available to students who have received an automatic grant but who are also experiencing additional emergency expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The application form for the additional emergency CRRSA Act funds can be found here. The application will be open until all of these funds have been distributed. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as funds are limited.
Students experiencing financial difficulties who are not eligible for CRRSA Act funding may apply for IU South Bend’s existing campus emergency fund here.

This will save you some time in completing the FAFSA. It will take 2-3 days to process the information and once we receive it, we will be able to review your eligibility for all federal educational funds. Please note, additional information/documentation may be required to establish your eligibility. Check your One.IU Student Center TO DO LIST for any additional requirements that you need to complete.
The applications are reviewed weekly by a committee made up of several different departments at IU South Bend. Typically, a student will receive notification of the status of their application within 3-5 business days.
