IU South Bend determined which students would automatically receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CRRSAA (a)(1) program and individual award amounts using tiers of student information. These included students with exceptional need determined by the FAFSA EFC, enrollment terms (both Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, or just Spring 2021) and the number of credit hours of enrollment. In addition, all students experiencing financial hardship related to the pandemic were invited to apply for funds through an application process.
Instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants include: adding directions to our initial student emailing informing about the federal CRRSA Act funds based on the HEERF. Students were informed, there are limited additional CRRSA funds students may request for additional emergency funding needs and given a link to our application. We also posted a news story with the information and links on our webpage; provided an FAQ with links; and through social media post such as, Facebook and Twitter.
