Writers, Fighters, and Urban Transformation: The Creation of Modern Ireland Dublin and Galway, with excursion to Northern Ireland
Wonderful adventures await you on the two-week Ireland study abroad trip in Summer 2023, including medieval castles, rope bridges over stunning sea cliffs, and tours from world-renowned Irish scholars. You will also have some free days to explore the country on your own.
Professors Shawn Nichols-Boyle and Jamie Smith, will guide you through your two magical weeks in Ireland, and prepare you for the trip with travel tips, and four weeks of courses in Summer I on Irish history, literature, culture, and global cities. With leaders who lived and studied in Ireland for many years, you will get a real insider’s guide to the Irish culture and language (English is spoken everywhere, but with some amusing and confusing Irish slang).
Students will stay in private, en-suite rooms in apartments with access to all modern facilities at University College Dublin (Dr. Nichols-Boyle’s alma mater) and National University of Ireland, Galway. Trip costs include airfare, accommodation, all transportation and admissions, many meals, and financial aid and scholarships are available.
For more information on the Ireland trip, please contact Dr. Nichols-Boyle or Dr. Smith. You can also hear from some of our previous Irish trip participants below.
“I can’t wait for the chance to return to a place that felt like home. This trip is perfect for both seasoned travelers and those who have never had the opportunity to travel. The people of Ireland are friendly; the leaders know what they are doing, and the experience will provide you memories to last a lifetime.”
-Zach Snider, Ireland Trip Participant 2018
“I made a connection with an Irish professor. . .and now I have a career connection all the way across the world. I also got to learn how independent I am and how wonderful everything can look when you’re in a different country.”
