Street Photography in Florence

May 21-June 22, 2023

Travel to Italy with your camera and professor Susan Moore! Students reside in Florence, where they take excursions to Venice, Rome, and Siena. In this four week workshop, students will earn six credits in Fine Arts and study art and photography in Florence, Italy, the heart of the Italian Renaissance. Students work digitally. Cameras can be provided, and no photo experience is necessary. Classes will be held four days a week with photo opportunities planned for each day. Three-day weekends allow for travel in Italy. The focus of the workshop will be developing camera skills for students at any level, alongside side a study of historical and contemporary art in Italy.

Open to all majors and all skill levels.

Students will enroll in FINA-A 399 Art Aesthetics and Creativity and FINA-S 497 Independent Study.

Quite simply, this experience changed my life. My time in Florence (and the surrounding areas) has influenced my work as an artist, my understanding and passion for art and art history, the way that I view the world, the way that I view my country, my love of and desire to travel, see and experience all that I can. Students will enroll in FINA-A 399 Art, Aesthetics, and Creativity (3 cr.) and FINA-S 497 Independent Study in Studio Art.

$5500 (plus 6 credits)

Students and faculty reside in Florence, from where they take excursions to Venice, Rome, and Siena.

The host school SRISA provides one, two, and three bedroom apartments in the heart of Florence within walking distance to the school, museums, and parks. Apartments are fully equipped with kitchen appliances.

Applications are due by December 1, 2022. A deposit of $300 is due by December 16, 2022 with the balance paid in full (or by commitment from Financial Aid) before departure. Trip costs will be posted to each student’s account upon acceptance, and full airfare may be non-refundable after March 1, 2023. Apply early as space is limited.
