Selection Committee
The IU South Bend Distinguished Teaching Award Selection Committee shall be composed of five full-time faculty members as follows:
- chairperson of the Academic Senate Teaching Committee* (*If the chairperson cannot serve, the Academic Senate Teaching Committee shall elect any one of its remaining members to serve in this capacity.)
- one previous Distinguished Teaching Award recipient selected by the EVCAA
- one member selected by the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate
- two at-large members selected by the EVCAA
The Selection Committee shall have the right and the obligation not to grant a distinguished teaching award for the year if no candidate is a distinguished teacher. This award should only go to exceptional teachers, and not be viewed as an award that excellent, but not distinguished, teachers could plan to receive. On the other hand, the Selection Committee may request to present more than one award for the year if more than one nominee is truly distinguished; the EVCAA will confirm funding availability should the committee wish to award more than one award in a given year.
The decisions of the Selection Committee are final and not subject to appeal.
