Candidates for the award may be nominated by a colleague, by a member of the community, or by the selection committee. Self- nominations will not be accepted.
Individuals who nominate candidates for the award shall arrange, in consultation with the candidate, for someone to assist the candidate in developing their dossier. Oftentimes, this will be the nominator’s responsibility.
In consultation with the candidate, the nominator will create a list of names of those individuals for whom supporting letters should be solicited.
The list should include individuals outside IU South Bend who can help the committee evaluate the candidate’s public service.
It is the nominator’s responsibility or their designee to solicit the letters for the candidate’s dossier.
The nominating letter should describe the candidate’s achievements in the areas of teaching, scholarly or creative activity, and service (for librarians the activities appropriate to librarianship should be included in the teaching area.)
The candidate should be asked to provide a curriculum vitae documenting the appropriate activities.
The letter of nomination, supporting letters, the candidate’s C.V., and other documents should be submitted electronically to the Chair of the Faculty Welfare & Personnel Committee.
Dossiers for the Lundquist Award are due the first Monday in December.
It is the nominator’s responsibility to ensure that all requested documents are received by the due date to the Academic Personnel Committee. The committee will not accept late additions to a dossier.
The announcement of the award will take place the following spring.
