Award Maximum $2,000
The purpose of a SMART Internship Grant is to provide funds for travel and other expenses related to an off-campus research internship.
The Internship Grant is awarded based on a student-written proposal and application and a letter of reference from an IU South Bend faculty member who has agreed to supervise the project. The mentor's letter should address the student's qualifications, evaluate the feasibility and quality of the internship program, indicate the commitment of the mentor to the project.
These funds cannot be used to complete assignments made as part of normal required coursework (no credits toward graduation will be received). Eligible students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Except in special circumstances, proposals must be received by the committee at least two weeks prior to when funding is needed. No awards will be made retroactively.
Please contact the program office at 574-520-4181 with any questions about your project.
