How can I tell if I'm ready to take an online course?
Online students have found the following characteristics essential for online success:
- the ability to be self-motivated
- have good computer literacy
- have good time management
- have an ability to organize and work independently
Students can find out if they are ready to take an online course by completing the Student Readiness Survey (aka IU Ready).
Tips for Students
Contrary to popular belief, online courses are not easier than face-to-face courses; but they can provide a lot of convenience and flexibility for students who have family and work responsibilities. An online student needs to approach the course differently than a face-to-face course.
IU Online Class Connect (IUOCC)
Through IU Online Class Connect (IUOCC) students from IU campuses (IU Bloomington, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis [IUPUI], IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU South Bend, IU Southeast) may take fully online courses at any IU campus offering those courses, allowing for seamless credit transfers.
