The Statewide Transfer General Education Core (STGEC) enables a student who satisfactorily completes an approved program of general education in any one of Indiana’s public institutions of higher education to transfer that coursework to any other state educational institution as a block of 30 credit hours towards the general education core requirement.
STGEC at IU South Bend
To fulfill the STGEC at IU South Bend with the intention to transfer to another Indiana state institution of higher education, students are required to complete the following courses from the IU South Bend General Education Curriculum with a cumulative STGEC gpa of 2.0 or higher:
- Critical Thinking
- Oral Communication
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Computer Literacy
- The Natural World | N 190
- Human Behavior and Social Institutions | B 190
- Literary and Intellectual Traditions | T 190, T 191, T 192 OR
Arts, Aesthetics, and Creativity A 190
- Non-Western Cultures
- Diversity in United States Society
Certification of satisfactory completion of the IU South Bend articulated STGEC will be noted on the student's transcript.
