Campus Ally Network

The purpose of the IU South Bend Campus Ally Network (CAN) is to help visibly affirm and support IU South Bend students, staff, faculty, administrators and alumni regardless of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Ally Training

IU South Bend—CAN provides training for individuals who are interested in becoming trained allies and joining the campus-wide network. The training curriculum includes information about terminology, campus resources and policies, identity development, the role of an ally, and other topics relevant to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals. The training combines direct instruction with opportunities for active participation.

Next Campus Ally Network Training

The Fall 2026 Campus Ally Network training has two required parts: Part One is offered asynchronously through Canvas (opens October 1 and must be completed by October 19), and an in-person session on Monday, October 26, 5:30-7:30 pm in the CUBE in the Administration Building. The CAN training is free and open to students, staff, faculty, and administrators.

The LGBTQ Center is Northern Indiana's only Center dedicated to the promotion of LGBTQ+ experiences and inclusivity. Our purpose is to see a community where every individual is valued, respected, and empowered. The LGBTQ Center offers diversity training, social groups, support groups, and more. We are also proud to offer a resource guide of affirming and accepting vendors, businesses, and social services. We are always looking for new ways to empower our community and to educate.

Queer Straight Alliance

The IU South Bend QSA is dedicated to enhancing the lives of our fellow LGBTQIA+ community members. We strive to educate and include, everyone from the IUSB community and beyond.

Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays

Our 400+ chapter network provides confidential peer support, education and advocacy in communities in nearly all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Our 200,000+ members and supporters cross multiple generations of American families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas. PFLAG has been saving lives, strengthening families, changing hearts, minds and laws since 1972. Our family and ally voice is integral to advancing equality.

The TREVOR Project

The Trevor Helpline is the only national crisis and suicide prevention helpline for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. The Helpline is a free and confidential service that offers hope and someone to talk to, 24/7. Trained counselors listen and understand without judgment. Phone | 866-4-U-TREVOR

CampusPride

Campus Pride represents the leading national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ students. The organization is a volunteer-driven network "for" and "by" student leaders. The primary objective of Campus Pride is to develop necessary resources, programs and services to support LGBTQ and ally students on college campuses across the United States.
